Watch: Peace and Quiet’s Debut Set

The air in the apartment was hot, almost sticky, as if it wasn’t around thirty-five degrees in Boone, NC. There’s tons of people I don’t recognize, causing my friend to run around going, “I am never having this many people over again!” Roughly six months after their union, our friends’ band was finally playing their first full set. There was so this much affection and excitement floating around that you could practically cut it with a knife, and I staked my place front and center next to my friends.

On March 2, 2024, my good friends and I cleared one of our apartments out to host the debut set of Peace and Quiet. Describing themselves as sludge punk, they take influence from groups such as Fugazi and The Chats. It’s crucial to note that the footage here is a time capsule. Due to personal reasons and general differing goals, front man Jakob Huffines left the band just days after their debut. Despite this, bassist Andrew Gilkinson, drummer Connor Ross, and guitarist Dodge Hill are still creative partners, and I have gotten the go ahead to post this anyway.

I’m beyond excited to see what everyone involved does next. In the meantime, click the link below to see the set, what all our friends have to say, pre and post-show antics, and me dying PQ into the back of my friend’s head to commemorate the night. Watch if you missed the party. Still watch it if you were there. You’re never getting this again either way, and I think that’s something special.
